Serena Williams has won her first match singles match on the WTA tour since coming back from giving birth to her first child.
The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion beat Kazakhstan's Zarina Diyas 7-5 6-3 to proceed to the second round at Indian Wells.
It was the American’s first singles match on the tour since she won the 2017 Australian Open while pregnant 14 months ago.
The 36-year-old, who received a standing ovation when walking out onto court, said: "I'm a little rusty but it doesn't matter. It definitely wasn't easy but it was good."
