Uefa has changed rules that will affect substitutions and players who move during the winter transfer window in the Champions League and Europa League.
At the moment a player cannot play in either competition if they have already featured in that competition for a different club.
This rule will be scrapped from next season. It has seen the likes of Coutinho being unable to play in the Champions League for Barcelona this season. The Brazilian forward is ruled out after featuring for Liverpool earlier in the tournament.
Other changes include allowing a fourth substitute in extra-time during the knock-out stages and allowing teams in the final of either competition to name a matchday squad of 23 players instead of the 18 allowed in the rest of the competition.
