A women’s football match was called off after it emerged there was a lack of oxygen to cover potentially injured players.
Charlton defender Charlotte Kerr was seriously injured in a collision as her side hosted Manchester United in a Championship game.
The home side had no oxygen supply and the club medics had to use stocks from United.
After an hour delay, the referee called off the game as there was not enough oxygen left to cover it safely.
Kerr, 24, was taken to hospital with a rib injury but was released the next day.
Women’s Super League and Championship rules state there is a requirement for oxygen. The sanction for failure to comply with rules relating to medical assistance is a £500 fine.
