Bury’s Yates twins will lead the team for Great Britain at the upcoming Road World Championships in Austria.
Simon Yates is currently leading the Mitchelton-Scott team at the Vuelta a Espana, with his brother Adam providing support at the third and final Grand Tour of the season.
Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas and Giro champion Chris Froome were on the longlist but British Cycling said their withdrawal was a "mutual decision".
The route for this year’s men’s road race provides a rare opportunity for the best climbers in professional cycling to wear the world champion’s rainbow jersey – featuring steep ascents in the Austrian Alps.
The championships take place in Innsbruck from 23-30 September.
