As the days get longer, temperatures rise and trees blossom - the nation is being urged to swap their TV remotes for their walking shoes, and get more active.
Official NHS guidance recommends 150 minutes, or two and a half hours, of “moderate aerobic activity” such as cycling or a brisk walk every week to stay healthy and prevent chronic health conditions. However, new research released today by the charity Living Streets as part of their initiative National Walking Month (May 2018), reveals that nearly a fifth (17%) of UK adults believe this is unachievable.
The UK charity for everyday walking, Living Streets, is encouraging the nation to get out and #Try20 this May, it’s asking Brits to make a pledge to add 20 minutes of walking to their daily routine in a bid to meet the 150 minute-a-week target.
