Newsroom Special - Children outwitting their parents online?

5 minutes | Wednesday, 14 March 2018

New research released today from ThePhoneCloud reveals that parents in the UK are concerned their children could be outwitting them online, yet many don’t check their child’s phone activity regularly. The research conducted with GingerComms investigates the attitudes of UK parents towards their child’s online activity and how much they really know about their child’s behaviour online.

In today’s world, where social apps on smartphones are favoured amongst younger people, the research discovered that more than half of respondents (52%) feel their children are more tech-savvy than themselves when it comes to using a smartphone. This disparity in technical understanding could therefore perhaps be the main reason why 30% of respondents think that their child could be concealing part of their online activity from them, with a further 11% saying they know their child is actually hiding something from them already.

ThePhoneCloud is a provider of children's mobile phones designed to prevent online bullying, by giving parents the ability to monitor their child's online safety through its unique, built-in software to provide them with greater confidence in their child's safety.

We were joined in the studio by founder of ThePhoneCloud Russ Whitlock.
