Newsroom Special - Father's Day

5 minutes | Friday, 15 June 2018

From dad jokes, dad jeans through to dad dancing… making fun of our fathers has long been a national pastime. Yet they’re the unsung heroes of sports clubs across the country and the unofficial taxis for kids everywhere. But when it comes to Father’s Day, it looks like Dads are getting the short end of the stick.

New research released by Royal Mail shows that dads really value the simple pleasures traditionally afforded to mums. For one in three (34%) dads, the ultimate gift is a hug from the kids followed by a family day out (31%) and a quarter (25%) would be happy with a personalised card.

Daddy blogger John Adams joined us in the studio to discuss his point-by-point guide to Father’s Day and explain why it’s so important to make our dads feel appreciated. Along with Mark Street from Royal Mail, they take us through what the research tells us about what dads really want for Father’s Day.
