A new poll of parents of primary school-aged children reveals that bedtime is their most difficult time of day – with the average child taking 94 minutes to go from first trying to get them into their pyjamas to falling asleep.
This week is National Storytelling Week (January 26th – 2nd February) and hundreds of events will be taking place up and down the country. Dr Kairen Cullen, a chartered educational psychologist, believes that storytelling can be one of the best ways to get kids to unwind at the end of the day. Further to this, she believes it can be vital to a child’s development, particularly when it comes to moral and social lessons about things like friendship, truthfulness and determination.
We were joined by Dr Cullen, who handed out her advice on how best to get the kids to sleep.
