New laws are being introduced this weekend, changing the minimum accepted energy efficiency rating of rental properties. However new research has shown the vast majority of landlords are unaware of the change, and only 5% are taking steps to make their properties compliant. The research seems to suggest that many landlords are sleep walking into a potential disaster if they’re non-compliant.
If nothing more is done, potentially 400,000 homes could be taken off the lettings market, leaving many renters homeless.
