A call has been issued to Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), NHS employers and the government to address the barriers faced by those attempting to go into nursing.
This call comes as data secured by The Open University under a Freedom of Information request reveals that 6% of places available to study nursing were vacant at the start of the current academic year – the equivalent of 1,450 potential nurses.
To discuss the research further we were joined by Phil Kenmore, Head of Health and Social Care Engagement at the Open University.
