The latest Nationwide Spending Report suggests that nearly a quarter of Brits admit to regularly spending over more than they earn. Rising living costs are causing people up and down the UK to tighten their purse strings.
More than two thirds (67%) say their finances are tighter now than five years ago, with eight in ten (82%) saying they have seen bills increase – with utilities, council tax and cost of food highlighted as the main costs to have risen over the past 12 months.
In the studio to discuss the latest Spending Report and the nation’s spending habits is Head of Current Accounts at Nationwide, Guy Simmonds.
