MPs, parliamentarians, patients, families and carers will unite on Rare Disease Day to sing in the ‘One Voice Choir’ (Wednesday 28th February) with the aim of raising awareness of the 3.5 million people across the UK who live with a rare disease.
A rare disease affects under one person in every 2,000, while an ‘ultra-orphan disease’ is one that affects one in every 50,000. This Rare Disease Day, Sanofi Genzyme have established the ‘One Voice Choir’, which features like-minded people who want to make their voices heard in society with the aim of effecting real change in rare and ultra-orphan diseases, particularly advancing research and earlier diagnosis.
With us in the studio to talk more about the challenges facing those with rare diseases and the One Voice Choir on Rare Disease Day is Dr. Lisa Cameron MP for East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow.
