The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is warning young men with their Respect the Water campaign to take extra care when visiting the coast during the heatwave in August, as they release data revealing 99 men died on the UK coast in 2017.
Over the past 5 years, 98 people have sadly died at the UK coast in August, making it the highest month for coastal fatalities, joint with July.
RNLI lifesavers have been preparing for another busy month, with sustained high temperatures seeing many young people head to the coast for holidays or to celebrate the end of their exams.
RNLI Lifeguard Supervisor Lewis Timson joined us to talk about his safety advice for the summer and how just one conversation could save a friend from drowning.
