The UK’s roads are home to all types of different groups – motorists, cyclists, pedestrians, runners, wheelchair users and motorcyclists to name a few – and new data suggests this shared space is far from harmonious.
According to research by Auto Trader, one in ten road users – the equivalent of 5.5 million people - were involved in an altercation that became physical in 2018.
Auto Trader has launched its new #SwearToChange campaign designed to spark a constructive debate on road equality. 20,000 items of free reflective outdoor jackets, back pack covers and dog-leads will be given away as part of the scheme.
We were joined by Strictly star, Lauren Steadman – who spends a lot of time running, cycling and driving on UK roads as a para-athlete – and Ben Darby from Auto Trader, one of the people behind the study.
