Newsroom Special - The evolution of the television

6 minutes | Thursday, 8 February 2018

It is safe to say that the way we are watching and consuming entertainment is changing. 92 years ago, when John Logie Baird demonstrated the television for the first time, people were sceptical and found it hard to believe it would ever catch on.

However, walk into any front room in the UK, in the vast majority of homes, and you will find the centrepiece and focal point will be the television. It’s what we point our furniture at, it’s what we gather around together at night, and for half (49%) of us it’s the thing that helps us relax the most.

In the studio with us to discuss is someone who’s seen the direct impact the evolution of TV has had on the UK, Iain Logie Baird, grandson of John Logie Baird, the inventor of the television.
