New research has found young workers are unaware of the rights they hold within their workplaces and aren’t signing up for union representation despite knowing some of the benefits membership provides.
The study, by UIA Mutual Insurance, shows that half (50%) of the 18-30 year olds asked said they understood the support network trade unions supply. However, just short of two-thirds (65%) of young workers do not belong to their relevant union.
To tell us more about the research we were joined by Kendal Bromley - Chair of National Young Member’s Forum, UNISON - and Jon Craven - CEO at UIA Mutual.
